The food was fantastic (didn’t photograph the pretzel I got) and so was the desert. However, for the wine I asked two employees how many oz of wine was in my glass as it looked way below the normal pour. They said it was “5oz”. As a bartender & server for over five years, I know that was wrong as this barely was even a 4 oz pour. I should’ve sent it back but I was already having a bad day and didn’t want to add complications as they were already stressed having the governor in their restaurant on Monday. If you’re going to charge $16 for this glass of wine, you might want to inform the bartender to pour it properly.

Barrow House is one of my go-to spots, whether I’m out with friends or on a casual date with my husband. The drinks are great—Lavender Sunset is my favorite—and the food never disappoints. I usually get the falafel sandwich or tacos, but their pizza is also amazing and definitely worth trying. They sometimes have seasonal dishes too, like their tomato soup, which I always look forward to. The rustic, antique design gives the place a unique vibe—it actually feels like the perfect spot for live music. I really wish they’d do that!

I loved this place. It’s beautiful inside, has warm lighting, great layout, just really inviting without trying too hard. The filet mignon was good—perfect texture, super flavorful, exactly what I wanted. The wine pairing worked so well!!! Service was fast, friendly, and on point the whole time. Honestly, I’d go back in a second.

One of the most beautiful restaurants in northern NJ, in my opinion. the ambiance is my favorite- very rustic and cozy with fun decor. there’s also a barn area that you can have rented out for private parties. food is excellent. i’ve had brunch and dinner here and have been satisfied with everything i’ve tried at the barrow house. drinks are also delicious. there’s a fun hidden photo booth to check out too! I recommend this place to everyone, it’s just a nice restaurant experience for sure

Great family restaurant in an old barn. It looks and feels like a museum with many paintings, tables, and chairs with their own personality. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the pretzel and the fried coliflower. I did not take photos of every meal, but here is the milanese chicken and the lavender cocktail. Both were fantastic.

With a barn-wood façade and porch that bring Cracker Barrel to mind, this establishment welcomes their patrons with a choice of rooms: a frontier-style bar up front; a fancy Victorian parlor; a barn room with a modern atrium roof; a more formal room antlered like a hunt club. Located off of Van Houten Ave in Clifton, the Barrow House is large (8,000 square feet), with tables comfortably spaced for about 214 seats. The reservation was easily made 2 hours ago via Resy for dinner, and my partner and I are glad we did, as the place was crowded. Greeted by the host upon arrival after our last visit 2 years ago, the interior vibe creates an instant sense of relaxation and comfort with the Christmas decorations making one feel right at home, and our table was ready in the hunting room with trophies: stuffed turkey, wild boars, pheasants, and deer. Their menu consists of the standard American fare. For starters, we shared a giant pretzel with grain honey mustard and cheese sauce. For our main, we opted for the fried chicken and fried fish sandwiches. Both accompanied by crispy fries. Our food was so good, well-balanced with the right levels of flavor and delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring a wonderful dining experience, especially our server, Enrique. While the prices are slightly higher than average, it was well worth it, which we can continue to recommend.

We had a wonderful time at the Barrow House. We rented out The Barn and even the guests told me that it was absolutely gorgeous, like a wedding! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was lively. The room was beautifully lit with natural lighting during the day, then warm lighting from the chandelier and string lights as the sun went down. I have been looking forward to hosting an event in this room for a while now, and it definitely did not disappoint. Shoutout to Melissa, the event coordinator, and Javon, our server. I did not get the other gentleman’s name who served us, but they were both awesome. Thank you for the great experience and making this birthday memorable!!!
